Eurobike is still adjusting its future concept for the international trade show. Ahead of the official presentation next week, exhibitors have already received a letter from Messe Frankfurt including the show's 2027 dates.

Taiwanese bicycle manufacturer Giant has established a new Spanish subsidiary in Girona with an initial share capital of €1 million. The newly established entity, Giant Bicycle Spain SL, will focus on the commercialisation of bicycles, parts, accessories and related equipment, in one of Europe's most important cycling hubs.

British infrastructure investment firm VisionEdgeOne Limited (VE1) has acquired Swiss bike-sharing company Publibike AG. According to the company, this marks its second investment in the micromobility (mobility-as a service) sector.

The trustees overseeing the bankruptcy of the Dutch Accell entities today launched an international sales process for the group, inviting potential buyers to bid for the business as a whole or in part. A back-stop agreement with an interested party covering all of Accell's bike brands is intended to provide business continuity while the sales process takes place.

The Rebirth Group, owner of bicycle brands including Solex, Gitane, Peugeot Cycles, Cowboy and Angell, is pursuing an increasingly ambitious consolidation strategy in the European bicycle industry. At the same time, the French group is facing mounting financial and legal pressure, including eviction proceedings, unpaid debts and historically substantial losses.

Optima Cycles and Bike&Co have entered a strategic supplier partnership for the German market partnership. Effective from 1 August 2026, the brands Lovens, Dolly and Dutch ID became part of Bike&Co's supplier programme for its affiliated independent bicycle retailers.

Also, Inc., the US micromobility spin-off from electric car manufacturer Rivian, has closed a $150 million (€128 million) Series D financing round. Led by Prysm Capital, with participation from Eclipse Capital, Greenoaks and MVP Ventures, the new capital will accelerate development of its autonomous vehicle platform. With US shipments of its TM-B e-bike underway, the brand is now building a team for a European market launch.

A total of 422,000 e-bike units were imported into the European Union in the first six months of 2026, the latest Eurostat data shows. This is up 36% from the same period in 2025. Unlike last year, China now supplies the lion's share of these imports. Year to date, China accounts for 41% of e-bikes entering the EU.
