The initial public offering (IPO) of Tianjin Fuji-Ta Bicycle Manufacturer Co., Ltd. known domestically as the "Foxconn of the bicycle industry" on 6 August on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) was quite impressive. The offering price of CNY 17.46 (€2.28) soared to a high of CNY 45.45 €5.94) on the day of the IPO, but then settled down again over the course of the week.

The Amsterdam District Court has revoked the suspensions of payments of the Dutch Accell companies and simultaneously declared these companies bankrupt, the two court-appointed trustees announced Tuesday afternoon. The multiple attempts to keep the once giant of the bicycle industry afloat have failed, marking a dark day for the industry with ripple effects that will be felt across Europe. The scramble to secure a future for major brand including Koga, Batavus, Lapierre and Haibike is now underway.

Quanta Capital, a Dublin-headquartered investment and asset management firm, has confirmed its interest in acquiring Accell Group. The Dutch manufacturer entered formal insolvency proceedings on 5 August 2026, following the collapse of a previous acquisition opportunity by Dutech holdings.

Taiwan's largest bicycle manufacturer reports a 13% year-on-year increase in July revenue, continuing the rebound that started in Q2.

Next year, the cycling industry is seeing an overhaul of the trade show calendar. Multiple major shows are opting for different dates, while two newcomers wish to join the calendar. One such debutant is CycleExpo Amsterdam. With a clearly defined character and affordable costs, it aims to become the new OEM meeting point for the bike industry.

For Fundracer Partner René Wiertz, the next decade will not simply be about selling more bicycles; it will be about making two-wheel mobility dramatically safer, smarter and more connected. "Those companies enabling that transformation are likely to create the greatest long-term value," says Wiertz. Bike Europe asked him about the market outlook from the perspective of an investment fund manager.
